Steps to gain your RAAus Recreational Pilot Certificate
Take to the sky!
You will get a chance to pilot the aircraft whether you’re looking to fly for fun, a possible career or simply a one off experience.
Should you choose to pursue your RPC, you will be required to apply for a membership at the RAAus website.
For first time pilots, you can enjoy a 3 month free trial with RaAus (or 3 flight hours) before signing up for a full membership. Bonus!
From this point on, your lessons will start with a short on ground briefing, a preflight of the aircraft and typically an hour of practical flight training.
Circuit flying includes repetitive practice of take-offs, landing patterns, and approaches and basic emergency procedures.
Halfway there! Throughout your flight training, and when deemed appropriate by your Instructor you will have the opportunity to fly solo for the first time. From take off to landing, you will be in full control. Cool, calm, confident and flying solo!
You will build at least 2 hours of flight time flying solo circuits around the aerodrome, honing in on all the skills you’ve just learnt, building more confidence and preparing for your flight test.
Towards the end of your training you will be required to pass five exams;
1. Pre-solo (rules of the air)
2. Air Legislation
3. Flight Radio Endorsement
4. Human Factors (HF)
5. Basic Aeronautical Knowledge (BAK)
