Welcome

Blast Aviation, formerly Golden Plains Aviation, is a flight training facility focused on helping you reach your aviation goals, whether that's flying for fun or pursuing it further.

Blast Aviation

Golden Plains Aviation became Blast Aviation at the end of 2025, under new owners and management with hands-on aviation experience who fly out of Lethbridge regularly. The school remains locally owned, now run as a family business.
Our goal is for every student to have the best possible experience learning to fly with us, and for existing students, almost everything stays the same.
The new team is working to be more hands-on around the school, so if you see new faces, feel free to stop and say hello. We'd love to get to know everyone personally and keep our community close.

We want to welcome you and support you through every step of your flying journey, whether that's easing the nerves before your first Trial Instructional Flight (TIF), or greeting you at the hangar before a private hire.
We want our community to feel as comfortable as possible when flying with us, so if there's ever anything we can do to help, just ask.
We've also got big plans for the future, so keep an eye out for our newsletter, launching soon.
We look forward to seeing you on the ground and in the skies.

The Airport

Lethbridge Airpark was established in 1992 as a private venture, supported by the Golden Plains Shire. Designed to offer unrestricted airspace and cater to light aircraft, it welcomed the Geelong Sports Aviators Club as its first tenant.

Our History

Blast Aviation, formerly known as Golden Plains Aviation, has called Lethbridge Airpark home since at least 2014. Golden Plains Aviation became Blast Aviation at the end of 2025, under new owners and management with hands-on aviation experience who fly out of Lethbridge regularly. The school remains locally owned, now run as a family business, with the same skilled and dedicated instructors and aircraft.

Over the years, a number of students who started their flying journey here have gone on to become airline and RAAF pilots, a track record we're proud to continue as we focus on RAAus Recreational Pilot Certificate (RPC) training today.
