We’ll take care of absolutely everything else for you upon arrival.

At Blast Aviation, we only offer Trial Flights

In a trial flight you'll get the opportunity to fly the aircraft, practice the basic manoeuvres in an instructional experience, and count it towards your RPC if you wish to pursue it. It’s a chance to dip your wingtips into the air before fully committing- as well as enjoying the world from a whole new perspective.

A scenic flight is an experience where you get to enjoy the view from a new perspective- take photos and videos and explore your surroundings without learning any of the instruments in the cockpit or learning any manoeuvres.

To complete an RPC the health requirements are the same as that to operate a private motor vehicle driver's licence in Australia,

for Under 18s a parent or guardian needs to consent to your training and sign the RAAus application form

Timing will vary person to person- minimum requirements are 20 hours total flight time (20 hours total, including 5 hours solo) but we’re flexible, you can book in when it suits you whether that’s everyday or only once a week, it’s your journey -not ours.

The license allows flying light, single-engine aircraft up to 600 kg, within 25 nautical miles of the aerodrome -but this restriction can be removed by obtaining a cross country endorsement.

The main difference between a Recreational Pilot Certificate (RPC) and a Recreational Pilot Licence (RPL) is the aircraft type. An RPC is for ultralight aircraft only whereas an RPL allows a pilot to fly light aircraft for recreational activities, subject to specific limitations.

Interested in your RPL?

If you’re interested in your RPL start with an RPC, it is a more cost effective way to achieve it, then you'll be able to do a conversion of your licence right here at Lethbridge Aerodrome. All hours count and give you accreditation towards it.
